Acvite Committees and Workgroups
A committee is considered “active” if we have a mission statement, recent minutes, and a point of contact to reach them. If you can help fill in the blanks or act as a point of contact for the group, please email webmaster.
Events Committee
The purpose of the events committee is to plan, prepare for, and carry out public events and activities that will serve to educate and reach out to the public while maintaining morale of the occupiers in our village. These events will include, but not be limited to, marches, rallies, concerts and legislative support.

Communications Committee (Com2)
The purpose of this committee will be: to promote, coordinate, and
help build the framework for aspects of community communication
through committee participation and advice to the General Assembly.

Long Range Planning Committee
This committee will design the strategic framework for Occupy Salem and consider ideas for future action based on that strategic plan. As with any Occupy committee, its recommendations will be taken to the General Assembly as proposals for final ratification.

Webmaster Subcommittee (part of Com2)
We assist in all issues related to online publication and maintenance of our website and forum. Webmasters help post and edit content, moderate our forums, perform technical administration, and ensure the usability of our websites.

Political Action Team
Mission: prepare and present high leverage political initiatives on behalf of Occupy Salem and other Occupy groups in Oregon.
Arts Committee
Recognizing that we each learn and communicate in our own ways, and celebrating the creative spirit within all of us, the Arts Committee’s mission is to facilitate opportunities for artistic expression in support of the Occupy movement within Occupy Salem and the whole community.
Arts Committee goals:
- To gather supplies, space and teachers for people to create expressive arts including visual arts, fiber arts, poetry, movement and music.
- To reach out to artists and craftspeople and invite their participation in the Occupy movement.
